  • Founded in 1906 by Dr Victor Stein, Norgine is still privately owned and Peter Stein, a grand-nephew of the founder, is now Chairman and CEO.
  • Norgine is a well established European pharmaceutical company and is one of the few specialty pharmaceutical companies to have a balanced presence across Europe.
  • Norgine’s core focus is on gastroenterology, hepatology and supportive care. Norgine develops and manufactures innovative pharmaceutical products, which are then marketed through our own subsidiaries and in collaboration with a network of partners around the world.
  • Norgine has subsidiaries in UK and Ireland (Harefield and Hengoed), France (Rueil and Dreux), Germany (Marburg), Belgium (Heverlee), The Netherlands (Amsterdam), Nordic (Copenhagen), Switzerland (Muttenz), Austria (Vienna), Italy (Milan), Portugal and Spain (Madrid). Outside Europe, there are Norgine companies in Australia and New Zealand (Sydney) Middle East and North Africa (Cairo) and South Africa (Johannesburg). Norgine also works through a number of distributors around the world.
  • Norgine has manufacturing sites at Dreux in France and Hengoed in the UK. In 2006 Hengoed obtained FDA accreditation to supply MOVIPREP to the USA.
  • In 2006 Norgine celebrated its Centenary. In addition, MOVIPREP was launched in the USA via our partner Salix Pharmaceuticals.
  • Norgine employs more than 1000 staff worldwide.
  • Norgine’s total revenue in 2011 was €247 million
  • MOVICOL is Norgine’s number one product and accounts for over 50% of our total sales.
  • Norgine’s products are sold in 53 countries worldwide
  • Over the past 3 years, a number of licensing agreements have been signed with other pharmaceutical companies including: Tranzyme, Nycomed, Modi MundiPharma,Takeda, Alfa Wassermann, Santarus, Ajinomoto, PharmaSwiss and Medical Futures.
  • Norgine currently has a strong product development pipeline including a number of projects entering advanced clinical studies.
